Team communication
built into your workspace

Channels, threads, direct messages, file sharing — all alongside your tasks and projects. No Slack tab to switch to, no context lost between tools. The conversation about a task lives next to the task itself.

Channels

Organized spaces for every team, project, and topic — so conversations have context.

Public & Private Channels

Public channels are open to all workspace members — anyone can join, browse, and catch up on history. Private channels are invite-only for sensitive team discussions, confidential project work, or leadership communication. Channel membership is shown upfront so there's no ambiguity about who can see what.

Announcement Channels

Set a channel to announcement-only mode — only admins and designated members can post, but everyone can read and react. Use this for company-wide updates, policy changes, and sprint releases where you want the whole team to see the message without the noise of open replies cluttering the thread.

Pinned Messages

Pin important messages to the top of any channel — standing meeting links, onboarding instructions, important decisions, or reference links that the team goes back to regularly. Pinned messages are accessible from a dedicated panel without scrolling through history. Each channel can have multiple pinned items.

Channel-to-Task Linking

Link a channel to a specific project — messages in a project channel automatically appear in that project's activity stream. Create a task directly from a message when a conversation surfaces work that needs to be tracked. The task includes a link back to the original message for full context.

Messaging

Conversations that stay organized — whether with one person or a hundred.

Threads & Replies

Reply to any message in a thread to keep focused discussions off the main channel feed. Thread replies are visible in a side panel without losing your place in the channel. Subscribe to a thread to get notified of new replies even in channels you're not actively monitoring. Threads prevent long sub-conversations from pushing important messages out of view.

Direct Messages

Send private messages to any team member for quick one-on-one conversations. Create group DMs with up to 8 members for small team huddles that don't need a full channel. DMs support the same formatting, file sharing, and threading as channels. Message requests from workspace members you haven't chatted with appear separately.

File Sharing

Drag and drop files directly into any channel or DM — images, PDFs, spreadsheets, zip files, or any other format. Images are previewed inline. Files are stored in your workspace's file library and remain searchable. Reference the same file across multiple channels without re-uploading. Download or share a direct link from any file attachment.

Reactions & Emoji

React to any message with emoji to acknowledge, approve, or respond without a full reply. See who reacted with what — hover over a reaction to see names. Create custom workspace emoji by uploading images. Reactions keep channels uncluttered when the only response needed is a ✅ or 👍 — no "sounds good!" message to scroll past.

Search & Notifications

Find anything, stay on top of what matters, tune out what doesn't.

Full Message Search

Search across all channels and conversations — including message content, file names, and link previews. Filter results by channel, sender, or date range to narrow down quickly. Search highlights the matching text in context so you don't have to re-read the whole thread. Pinned messages and bookmarked items are surfaced first for common reference lookups.

Mentions & Keywords

@mention any team member to direct a message at them — they'll get a notification regardless of whether they're watching the channel. Use @here to notify all active members in a channel, or @channel for everyone in it. Set up keyword notifications for terms that matter to you — get pinged whenever someone mentions your project name, technology, or any phrase you specify.

Notification Control

Configure notification preferences per channel — all messages, only mentions, or none. Set a Do Not Disturb schedule that silences all notifications outside your working hours. Mute any channel temporarily without leaving it. The unread count badge shows at a glance where new messages exist so you can catch up on your own schedule, not at someone else's ping.

Why communication belongs in your workspace

No Context Switching

Switching between a chat app and a project tool breaks focus. When chat is built in, you discuss a task in the same interface where you update it. The conversation and the work are always together.

Decisions Stay with Work

Decisions made in Slack get lost after 90 days on free plans, or buried in search. Decisions made in a linked channel stay attached to the project, milestone, or task they reference — permanent and searchable.

One Fewer Subscription

Slack charges per user per month, and costs add up fast. Built-in communication means you don't need a separate chat tool. The features your team actually uses are already included in Workspace.
